Our Product

Our device, RICuffs, uses remote ischemic conditioning (RIC), which is brief, non-lethal cycles of ischemia & reperfusion, to provide the health benefits of exercise to pediatric patients experiencing mobility issues and muscle weakness.

How RICuffs works

1) Blood pressure cuffs are placed on the calf and thigh

2) The cuffs begin to inflate to 110-120 mmHg. The calf cuff inflates 20 seconds before the thigh.

3) Cuffs inflated for 4 min occlusion (on) and 4 min reperfusion (off)

4) Repeat this cycle twice

.

Functional

RICuffs is designed to be accurate in terms of acceptable pressure and time ranges, durable so that it can be used daily and last a long time, and effective enough to see remote ischemic conditioning carried out successfully on the patient.

Improve Quality of Life

RICuffs is designed to improve the patient’s quality of life by increasing their passive muscle movement, oxygen utilization, endurance, strength, and neuromuscular function. While also decreasing fatigue following movement and exercise and perceived muscle soreness.

Accessible

RICuffs is designed to offer accessibility by being easy to use with simple instructions, lightweight for on-the-go travel, and cost-effective for families of all socioeconomic statuses.
